Starting up

So, another game jam. This sounds like it's what I usually do.. but well, it's my second one ever and it's a good way to get stuff done.

This game will be for the VimJam2 jam and I will make it in Unity. The reason I chose Unity is two fold.

1) I haven't tried it and I want to compare how it is to make a game with it compared to Dragon Ruby and Godot that I have tried before

2) The idea for the game I want to do is way over my graphical skill level, so I really need the asset store to be able to pull it off.

The first thing I did was the music. It is coming together quite nicely (lots of electric guitars). When I had done something that was at least a few minutes of music I fired up Unity and started going through the assets that I have bought on different sales through the years (I have bought a few humble bundles and similar when there has been a good deal) and I found some low poly assets that fit nicely with my boss themed idea. I imported that into unity and dragged some assets into the scene... and then started googling.

And man.. this was easy. There is tons and tons of information available and Unity is quite logically built (for a programmer at least), so things made sense quite fast, and I had  things moving on screen in no time. I have to say that it was really a rewarding experience.  Sadly that makes a lot of excuses to do the fun stuff (programming) go away and force me to do some design and make a level and gameplay, so I guess I have to start doing that next.

Anyway, a couple of hours spent and there is a guy on screen that can be controlled and it looks quite ... not awful.
